Terms & Conditions

Acceptance

By playing PlainScape or hosting a PlainScape community server, you agree to these terms.

The Game

PlainScape is a free, open-source multiplayer game provided as-is. We make no guarantees about uptime, data persistence, or game balance. The game resets weekly — progress is temporary by design.

AI Rule System — Important Disclaimer

The AI rule implementation system uses the Anthropic Claude API to autonomously read, modify, and execute code on the server machine. Community servers that enable this feature run AI-generated code changes with the --dangerously-skip-permissions flag, which grants the AI broad access to the server's file system and the ability to run shell commands.

Neither PlainScape nor Anthropic are responsible for any damage, data loss, security issues, or other consequences resulting from the AI rule system's actions on your machine. By enabling the AI rule system on your server, you accept full responsibility for its behavior.

We strongly recommend:

Community Servers

Community server operators are responsible for their own servers, including compliance with applicable laws, data protection, and content moderation. PlainScape provides the software; operators provide the infrastructure and oversight.

Player Conduct

PlainScape is a PvP survival game — combat, raiding, and competition are core mechanics. However, real-world harassment, hate speech, and abuse through the chat system are not tolerated. Server operators may ban players at their discretion.

Intellectual Property

PlainScape is open source. The community server package is distributed under the terms of its repository. Player-submitted rules become part of the game code and are not individually owned.

Limitation of Liability

PlainScape is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the creators of PlainScape shall not be liable for any damages arising from the use of the game, the AI rule system, or community server software.

Changes

These terms may be updated at any time. Continued use of PlainScape constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
